NC State Men’s Soccer vs. Louisville

Architecture Lecture: Michael Sørensen

Please join the College of Design for the fall 2024 architecture lecture series. 

Michael Sørensen is a partner and design director at Henning Larsen and co-leads the firm’s U.S. design studio in New York City. With nearly 20 years of experience leading projects from Henning Larsen’s offices in Copenhagen and New York City, Sørensen has been at the helm of several notable buildings and masterplans throughout Scandinavia, Europe and North America, including the Minneapolis Public Service Building, winner of the 2023 AIA Architecture Award, and the Downsview Framework, Canada’s largest development and winner of the 2023 Urban Design Award. Bringing Henning Larsen’s DNA to life, Sørensen leads co-creative design processes defined by research and dialogue to drive innovative, inspiring spaces and places rooted in the communities they serve. A truly global citizen, Sørensen was born in Australia, raised in South Africa and returned to Denmark to complete his architectural studies at the Aarhus School of Architecture before joining Henning Larsen’s practice in Copenhagen in 2006. In 2019, Sørensen and his family relocated from Copenhagen to Brooklyn. Having lived, studied and worked in such diverse cities around the world, Sørensen is inspired by a uniquely global perspective and deep appreciation of the specific contexts, cultures and climates we work within.

Virtual Presentation on Elder Fraud and Scams with David Kirkman

• When: Monday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m.

Join the Golden Grads Forever Club as they host David Kirkman, a retired professional from the Consumer Protection Division of the NC Department of Justice in 2017 as a special deputy attorney general. During his 30 years with the Department of Justice, Kirkman worked on cases that ran the gamut from door-to-door salesmen and itinerant driveway paving scammers to cross-border fraud and telemarketing scams. He is the author of “Elder Fraud Wars.” In retirement, he is a dedicated volunteer with AARP NC in their efforts to combat elder fraud and scams. He is a frequent speaker to older adult groups and aging service providers about fraudulent activity.

TexTell: North Carolina Textile Innovation and Sustainability Engine

Join the North Carolina Textile Foundation for our upcoming TexTell featuring speakers from the North Carolina Textile Innovation and Sustainability Engine (NCTISE) staff to share more about how it will advance our nation’s capacity for innovations in textiles that maintains a lens of environmental sustainability and with an eye toward circularity.

Woodson Hall Class Without a Quiz and Tour

Experience learning without the pressure of exams at Woodson Hall’s Class Without a Quiz and Tour! CHASS Learning Lounge

Join NC State Political Scientists Steve Greene and Andy Taylor for an interactive discussion about the 2024 presidential election, followed by tips for managing stress during election season from Psychology Professor Shevaun Neupert. A reception with food and drinks will follow the event.

Black Alumni Society Anniversary Gala

Join us for an unforgettable evening as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Black Alumni Society! The event will be a sneaker ball and begin with a warm and welcoming reception, offering a perfect opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and friends. Lawyers Alumni Society Annual Meeting and CLE

Join the Lawyers Alumni Society for its annual half-day meeting and luncheon! Alumni Memorial Belltower Tour

Tour the NC State Memorial Belltower with Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Emeritus Tom Stafford ’66. Take a trip inside the Belltower and learn about the history of this campus landmark.

BAS Welcome Reception

• When: Friday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Kickoff BASFest and homecoming weekend with a welcome reception at our host hotel. Enjoy reconnecting with classmates, friends, sorority sisters and fraternity brothers while celebrating NC State and the Black Alumni Society.

LAN/NAAN Welcome Reception

• When: Friday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.
• Where: WXYZ Lounge at Aloft Hotel
• Cost: $12

Join the Latinx Alumni Network and the Native American Alumni Network as we welcome NC State alumni and friends back to campus and kick off homecoming weekend! Registration includes light hors d’oeuvres and one drink.

Dine With Your Pack

• When: Friday, Nov. 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
• Where: Mitch’s Tavern, Sammy’s Tap and Grill, Brickhouse Sports Bar and Grill, Amedeo’s Italian Restaurant
• Cost: Free

Reconnect with old friends or make new ones at some of your favorite restaurants around campus. The Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving will provide appetizers for the group, and dinner and drinks will be Dutch treat. Reservations for tables of 8 are available at the following restaurants: Mitch’s Tavern, Sammy’s Tap and Grill, Brickhouse Sports Bar and Grill and Amedeo’s Italian Restaurant. Enjoy great food and even better company!

NC State Women’s Volleyball vs. Syracuse

Come out and support the NC State women’s volleyball team as they face off against Syracuse! This thrilling matchup promises intense action, impressive plays and high-energy moments. Saturday, Nov. 2

Howl Back Breakfast

• When: Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m.
• Where: Park Alumni Center
• Cost: $25 (Kids under age 5 are free.)

Start game day with the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving at the Howl Back Breakfast at Park Alumni Center! Enjoy a buffet-style continental breakfast featuring 321 Coffee and Howling Cow ice cream. Take advantage of the opportunity to tour the facility and explore your very own Park Alumni Center. This is a perfect chance to grab a bite and network with fellow alumni before heading to Carter-Finley Stadium for the day’s festivities.

Golden Grads Forever Club: Medallions in the Belltower

• When: Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m.
• Where: Memorial Belltower
• Cost: Free

Golden Grad Forever Club members have the opportunity to place their medallions in the Memorial Belltower overnight. A tradition unlike any other.

BASFest Tailgate

• When: Saturday, Nov. 2, two hours before kickoff
• Where: PNC Arena, East Concourse
• Cost: $40

Tailgate with BAS alumni and friends to cheer on the Wolfpack as they take on the Stanford Cardinal. The tailgate will feature music and games. In addition to the catered menu, everyone is also welcome to bring their favorite tailgate beverages and snacks to share.

LAN/NAAN Tailgate

• When: Saturday, Nov. 2, two hours before kickoff
• Where: The lawn at PNC Arena, corner of Peter Karmanos Jr. Drive and E. Stephen Stroud Way
• Cost: $20

Tailgate with the Latinx Alumni Network and Native American Alumni Network and cheer for the Wolfpack as they take on the Stanford Cardinal. NC State alumni, students and friends can enjoy music and games and cheer on Wolfpack football to victory. In addition to the catered menu, registrants may bring their favorite tailgate beverages and snacks to share.

BAS Farewell Brunch

Close out homecoming with a delicious brunch alongside fellow Black alumni and friends before heading back home. This is the perfect opportunity to savor a delightful meal, share memories and celebrate the spirit of the occasion one last time. Join us for a heartfelt and flavorful send-off that wraps up the festivities in style.

ACC Women’s Soccer Tournament

Cheer on the Wolfpack at the ACC women’s soccer tournament right down the road in Cary! Bring your Wolfpack spirit, wear your red and enjoy an exciting day of soccer with fellow alumni and fans. Let’s show our team the strength of the Pack and make some noise in the stands!
